Over a 25-year period, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recorded 815 deaths and over 70,000 serious injuries as a result of heat-related illness, despite significant underreporting. While heat illness is such a pervasive threat to workers, it can be greatly reduced with access to information and tools.
To help get the message out, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced the Beat the Heat National Contest to:
- Educate stakeholders, especially workers and employers, about heat hazards in the workplace.
- Prevent heat illness by creating an awareness campaign that increases the public's knowledge about this issue.
- Highlight the dangers of heat
- Motivate employers and workers to take action to prevent heat illness.
Our Safety App Won Most Innovative
OSHA received 195 submissions which they narrowed down to 18 winners among five categories: Strongest Message, Most Creative, Most Innovative, Highlighting Indoor Heat Hazards, and Best Non-English Submission.
